A magnetic oil pan heater would be perfect for something like this if you had one.

When we swapped in the tranny before this one in my truck it was real cold. The rear driveshaft would no extend to hook it back up so I wrapped it with a heating pad for about 1/2 hour and it worked slicker than gooses**t lol. That may also work in a cituation like this one as well.

The truck sat for at least a year before I trailer-ed it to my house. I was able to turn the flywheel through a full cycle, so I now it's not seized. I replaced the starter and starter relay (and batteries) and it turned over.

The oil that came out was very black and thick, but as the oil pan got hotter, the oil thinned out a bit, but was still thicker than it should've been. I don't suppose there is a good way to flush/clean the oil pan without removing it?

I'm on this forum several times a day...I look forward to the day when I can provide assistance for somebody elses issues.

I think I would just short change the oil, like 500 or 1000 miles after you get it running.

Diesel oil has a rather good detergent package in it, that should take care of any sludge.
