I have'nt installed the kit yet, so i don't know if it pops. My friend doesnt have any popping on his system. that is really the only experience I have with mbrp
You want a deep sound and cheap? Take the truck to a muffler shop and ask them to cut off the stock exhaust can and replace it with a straight piece of pipe...have had mine like that for 2 years now and it sounds the best ever!

I wish we could do that here in NW Indiana, but we have emission testing . I had an all stainless Flowmaster on a 94 GMC Z71, it only lasted about 4 yrs. I never thought about the short driving distance having an effect on the system , I only drive about 9 miles back and forth to work.
my truck goes through emmisions no problem, the stock cats are intact, the muffler is more for noise control then emmissions...I think? Previously I had a flowmaster 40 can welded in place of the stock muffler and it was ok...this set up however sounds perfect!
Durability completely depends on what the materials are exposed to (like salt or salt water). My original '92 F150 factory exhaust was full of holes and leaks within three years. I replaced it with a Gibson aluminized cat-back system, which was still in excellent condition this past September (15 years) when my truck was destroyed in a head-on collision. The truck was in Texas and Alabama where the roads are generally "clean", and it wasn't on the beaches.
i am to poor to have a camera but i installed today. the system is perfect!!! excellent sound and no popping. it took under 2 hours in the snow. most of that was removal of old system. all i had was hand tools, car ramps, and my trusty can of P.B. blaster ( i love that stuff, its more helpfull than half of my friends) I would totally recomend this system. sounds aggressive but not too loud.
Dirtlslmfan, I'd move a few miles farther south to Newton county where they don't have emissions testing. Lake county is a lot like St. Joseph county in that the local politicians can't live within the county's means. They have never met a tax they didn't like. Then when you throw in the EPA like Lake and Porter county have to deal with it's even a bigger PITA and more expensive. I don't think that a staight pipe would have trouble passing emissions testing unless they have a visual portion like California has.
Sorry Oldtimer, aluminized steel on an exhaust = junk. Especially if it sees winters. Go stainless. I had Flowmasters on my old car, went through 4 mufflers. Winters ate them up. The factory stainless pipes never needed replacement.
Why should I be sorry?
Since I live in north San Diego county, I don't see those crappy winters you flyover and northern states do. My setup is 6 years old and looks brand new. SS is a waste of money out here unless you just like spending money, or you prefer one sound over another...I happen to prefer my sound to that of a MagnaFlow.
I been looking around myslef for exhaust kits i really like the Roush off road dual rear exit kit sounds mean as hell. Try youtube thats what i did so that way i could hear almost everything.
Well I ordered my exhaust and got it put on today. sounds amazing! Flowmaster American Thunder. Deep tone with no popping. just what i was looking for. took about an hour to install
A buddy works for O'reillys and he has an 09 Silverado and I mentioned the Thrush exhaust being a basic 2 chamber flowmaster. He ordered up 2 of them, his cost $25+tax
So I installed it myself, cut, welded and moved some brackets. Awesome!
