8.8 question

i was wondering if u guys could tell me some info on and if there are any differences in the 8.8 rear ends that come in the different year f150s, broncos, or mustangs. i have no idea what spline number it is thus i cant be sure on what locker and gear set to go with. my truck is an 85

Your best bet is to pull out one of the axles and count the splines. Over the years many things could have changed, including your axles or your whole rear end.

I'm not a truck Pro, but it was my understanding that the truck differentials were 31 spline. I have saved a few over the years for that reason. It is a cheap upgrade on a mustang. Truck rears can be had for cheap, maybe get an extra one for your project and you can keep your orginal as a spare or stock part and that way you can be certain what spline it is like bghnkinf250 said.
