3700 ICP seems high to me running off of the starter ,, 60 % DC means that is what the PCM is calling for , most likely due to it not seeing ICP as expected .(may be the ICP sensor) Did you or anyone crack a HP oil line while cranking to see if you have the oil pressure ?.If the Oil pressure is there , for some reason the IDM is not commanding the injectors to fire ..(low voltage maybe ?)

Yes, the pressure seems high but it starts low and builds up. So does the duty cycle as would be expected with a no start condition.
The IPR is opening up and the high pressure oil is getting to the ICP sensor.
The ICP is reading the pressure and sending the reading to the PCM or there would be no ICP reading via AE.

From my post :

"In my thinking the ICP climbs this high because the injectors are not firing, no white smoke which means no fuel being injected.
So no HPO is being used resulting in the pressure build up."

We do suspect voltage problem as stated. I am waiting for him to call back.

It would seem to me ,that the IPR DC would decrease if the pressure increased & wasn't being used . PCM should see icp at 3700 & the IPR doesn't have to stay closed as long ...I thought duty cycle increased when needed ...

I would not think the PCM would allow the ICP to get that high but can only go by what AE is showing. Greg should be calling back soon.
Something I want to do this time is have him disconnect ICP sensor and then see how high the ICP gets when PCM uses default table.

IIRC,On my scanner , the ICP is a false reading with it unhooked ,while not running

OK Rick. But it must use that reading to eastablish ICP duty cycle or the engine would die when ICP sensor is disconnected.

I will post after Greg calls

Talking FTE Comes Through Again

Just got off the phone with Greg and his truck is up and running. .

Disabling the GPR and plugging in the block heater worked. See Post #47. EDIT : I meant Post #75

He is now trouble shooting to find out why there was a 2 volt drop when the GPR operated.

He will be posting later.

Yep its up and running (thanks robin) well sense i removed and cleaned my IPR i think that was most of my died and no start problem! And the fact that i have a 2 volt drop when my glow plugs come on give me a cold start problem some times!HPOP reservoir is staying full even tho while cranking the oil gauge does move till it running! When i did finally get it to start it ran rough for a good 20 min but it smoothed out and seems to be running good!So im gona buy a new IPR because i think i need on just in case and a upgraded GPR! Ill see what tomorrow morning brings!lol

If that was the reason it died , you definitely will need a new one (it was stuck open),(if the batteries are new ) get a new starter as well...

Greg,

When you find out what is causing the extra voltage drop when the GPR operates I would sure like to know.
There's a high resistance short to ground or a bad coponent somehere. Was the new GPR OEM or parts house?
You should replace th GPR with a Stancor 586-902. Here's the LINK to my install. I did it a bit different than most.

When the engine died 2 weeks ago it very well may have been the IPR.

Keep us posted.

Hello Greg,

Glad to hear all is good with your truck.

This is the LINK to my Stancor install if you are interested.

Did you ever find out what was causing the extra voltage drop when the GPR operated?
