yesterday i got the old beater truck back from my dad who was using it... so i jump in it this morning to go to work, since i was too lazy to gas up the new truck... get half way there, blah, dead. im thinking fuel pump went... anyways, bummed a ride back to my house, got the new truck, gassed up, towed old truck home. ripped the bumper off thanks to some rusty old bolts.. go back to work. alls good. drive home, new truck is acting up, bogging bad, no power, just horrible. check engine light flashed but didnt stay on.... k go grab the code reader plug it in and nothing? so i drive around baggin it pretty good, as its acting up the whole time. code reader pulled 3 "pending codes" p0316 misfire while starting, p0300 random/multipul misfires and p0302, cylinder 2 misfire.
before i was having a problem where the truck would stumble or studer i guess when cruising around 1500-2000 rpm and just sitting at lights and what not, really light loads it would have a problem. so i researched it back then and found out it was a coilpack that was "on its last leg" but no clue how to tell which one... so now that i see cylinder 2 had a misfire, it must be that one!! go to partsource, 70 bucks later... truck runs mint! lots more power now than before it seems like. and runs super smooth!
so now im happy, but i just finished now... its 10pm i was outside freezing my *** off and burnt my finger...
now who wants to come drop a fuel tank in a snowbank to change a fuel pump?!
aaannnddd i burnt my thumb workin on the sled today too, same hand, ugh...
got the old truck to start again, and it ran for a bit, then acted up trying to die, so i headed back home and left it... so fuel pump is good?? man i dunno its effed
It could be a plugged fuel line filter. If it is electronic the a bad coil resistor or cracked cap.
I been having fun with my 86. They found the electric choke failed and a choke pull off bend and binding causing the truck to use excessive gas to the point it would not run anymore.
I'm not much help when it comes to engine issues, but sometime get them. Older engine with out electronic I can work on better.
water temperature sensor!!! what the heck, how does that make a truck run like complete *** and cause it to stall out and not start... w/e tho, its fixed i think... runs like a top, crappy tire wanted 75 dollars, but its my cheapo beater so bucks autoparts for 2 dollars!
but i dont trust the truck to go back and fourth to work yet, i'll bag it around for a bit and maybe stall it on purpose and see if it fires back up
