clutch Q
my 1999 f250 when i push the clutch and shift when i put it into the next gear i get a slight grind. after the first few miles it goes away. it only does it for the first few miles. i see no leaks. does it sound like the clutch going out or does it sound like the hydrolics getting weak in the slave cyl assembly.

If it's clutch related, you'll be able to duplicate the issue while revving the engine in nuetral, then pushing the clutch in and shifting into a gear.
How old is the clutch? When is the last time you changed the fluid in the tranny? I'd probably start with a fluid change.

i dont know how old the clutch is i just bought the truck the first of feb. like i said it only does it for the first few miles then quits. i'll check the fluid tomarrow. whats the best fluid to run in these manual tran's? the clutch feels easy to push in and let out almost like a 4cyl manual passenger car you know soft and not much resistance. i can do a hard take off without dumping the clutch and i dont feel any slippage. but i drive a semi daily so i'm used to a stiffer pedal.

Check your owners manual. I've got the 6 speed behind a diesel so I'm sure mine feels a lot different. My tranny uses ATF in it. If you don't have a manual, you can download one here: https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp
If you're unsure of the maintenance, I'd recommend changing every fluid you can in the truck.
