I have a 2002 f250 7.3 4X4 w/ about 107,000, it's missing and no power with the check engine light on, when we put the decoder on it, it says no codes passed all test and I have replaced the fuel filter I have no clue, any ideals would be great
The code reader you used is not compatible with Powerstrokes. Most generic code readers don't work on these trucks.
From the description of your problem, my first guess would be the UVC harness. It's a common problem with symptoms as you describe. Under each valve cover, the harness easily works itself loose over time. Ford has plastic tabs for the original harnesses to lock it in place, and new UVC harnesses are updated to correct the problem. Plastic tabs are much cheaper though.
However, without pulling the codes, it's a guess at this point. Best bet is to find a PSD compatible scanner and go from there.
I pulled the valve cover and looks like the plugs are the new ones they have a wire that flips up and keeps it from comeing unpluged
You're looking in the wrong spot. What you see are the wires that connect to the individual injector solenoids. Only those have the wire clips.
The UVC harness is where the wiring harness first goes under the valve covers. There are actually two separate harnesses. The one hidden directly under the valve cover is what pops off. Check those connections to see if they are loose.
Ouch, but I know what it's like when you just don't want to mess around with fabrication (even if only a quick grind of a quarter) or don't have time. Sometimes it's just nice to go OEM.
Damn, the charged me $8 for mine. But then again, the people at the parts counter knew me, and they were getting ready to shut down the dealership, so they probably gave me a discount or something.
At any rate, glad you got it fixed. And glad it was something simple.
