Why is the site so slow?

My computer locked up on me when I brought up this site yesterday evening. I had to shut down and restart the comoputer. Right before that, I got a pop up window with a message stating that if I continue to run this site with the flash player, it will slow down the performance.
Maybe some sort of a Flash enabled ad that was running on the website????

This is something that was to subject of a long and "vibrant" discussion a month or so ago.
I'm not sure if they are workin gon it, but there seems to be a problem with on or two advertisements running via "Flash" that affects your run speed.
Since neither of you has a membership youare probably affected by this advertising. Here's a copy of the link to the thread if you want to read through it a little and see if the problems described sound familiar. As far as I know, there was no correction published for the Flash player fault, although the complaints did stop - until now.

I also had the attack of the Adobe flash player 10 yesterday. It totally crashes your computer and requires a complete shutdown to reset things. The bad part is that by the time the warning message comes up, it's too late, and it takes about 15 minutes to get everything to shut down. I was a little apprehensive to drop in here tonight.
When we had this discussion previous, it was suggested to be sure all the latest flash player updates are loaded onto your machine. I have done that, and I still have these issues.

I have never had the problem. But I don't do windows.......and I don't do Internet Exploder either.
You might try the latest version of Firefox, the newest Flash plug-in and Adblock Plus and you'll probably solve your problem. Google Chrome is based on Firefox.
Even Microshaft is admitting there's a problem...... Internet Explorer stops responding, stops working, or restarts
Cheers,

I've never had the problem and I do use internet explorer.
So here we go again with the "lets all reconfigure our browsers to adjust our computers so that the advertisement with the adware that binds up adobe will not hurt your computer" argument.
Rick, read my lips: Internet explorer isn't the problem!
The site obviously accepts advertising packages from th eadvertisers and simply installs it without checkin git for adware ort malware. And everytime there is a new advertisement that uses Adobe that is put on the site, that has this adware or malware, it's gonna do this as it runs off to the side and binds up the computer.
Think I'm wrong? Uninstall yor Adobe Flash Player and see if it still happens!
Best way to avoid these probelms is to buy a membership - $20 - no advertising!

I'm using internet explorer, I'm a Supporter member and I've been experiencing this same problem...that began about 2 weeks ago.
It takes between 10 to 25 seconds for each message to load.
It's so frustrating, I've cut the time down I usually spend here on FTE, by 75%.

That's very strange.....I didn't have any problems the last time, and I'm not this time. Although if you have been tracking the old thread, Adrian has been working it. All of a sudden the guys not getting notifications prior are now getting them. Maybe they undid something that is causing the problem again. Been about 2 weeks!!!!!!!!
Of course I still can't open my galleries without Vista closing down the site with the "Data Execution File" shutdown. That has been a problem since I installed Vista. Might be time for me to get off my rear and get the Windows 7 I have installed.

Ver 7 also has it's own unique problems.

I have no problems whatsoever using Win 7 and I.E 8! But I also have the very latest Adobe Flash (they just updated it again) and Sun (Oracle) Java version installed too!
Cheers Y'all!
