When Ronald Reagan ran for reelection, Walter Mondale said that he was too old for the job, now, at 74, he comes out of retirement to run for the senate - what a hypocrite. He is leading in the polls and it looks like he will win. I hope the voters in Minnesota will consider the terrible Carter/Mondale record and the shameful politics at the recent Wellstone memorial before they vote for this guy.
Ronald Reagan said, " Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem" - That is the oppisite of the Mondale political philosophy.
Just my opinion.

Well the Democrats have succeded in making themselves look like the hypocrites they really are this time. Besides Mondale, the Wellstone Rally was a shameful example of how they work. The people of Minnesota can be very independent and they may just see these rascals for what they are and make them pay at the polls. Let's hope they will. I will trust them to do the right things until they don't. I won't write them off till they write themselves off. The interesting aspect of Minnesota right now is who will Ventura appoint as the interim Senator since the Wellstone Memorial Show pissed him off.
If he appoints one that will vote with the Republicans, you will see a fluerry of judge appointments sail through the Judiciary Committee before the New Year. :-staun
I hope that Mondale loses, plain and simple. I live in WI but work in MN so I follow the MN political scene more because that's all we get on tv. I tuned into the "memorial service" (or political rally)for Wellstone, and only watched about 5 min of it. The part that I saw was of people singing, dancing and laughing. Is it just me, or shouldn't a memorial service be at least a little bit somber? The rally almost seemed like they were celebrating Wellstone's death. The only good part was at the very beginning of the memorial when the 3 aids to Wellstone were remembered. It turns out, the whole thing was planned this way. Certain people were assigned seats, the camera shots were planned and people went so far as to boo a republican that was introduced. He was there to pay respects to Wellstone, the person, not the politician. I feel that the democrats might have shot themselves in the foot on this one.
A lot of people "celebrate" the death of a person instead of having a somber funeral. I think that everyone handles death differently. Personally when I croak, I would rather have a party than a tear jerking service. I think that it would just fit me better. Anyways just my 2 cents.
What do you expect from a state that elected a Professional wrestler to the office of governor?
That so called "Memorial Service" was no more than a political rally for the Democrats.
Unfortunately, the Democratic Party will continue to be popular with the minorities, welfare recipients, gays, unions, illegal immigrants , radical womans groups, abortion on demand types, trial lawyers , etc, etc, as long as they continue to throw money at these groups.
I don't see any end to it.

Chris: I understand and share your feelings about a celebration of life. However, the Wellstone Rally was a planned political rally. It ws advertised as a "memorial service" and planned and executed as a Democratic political rally to gin up support for Walter Mondale. Those who do not see this have the blinders of electoral naivite firmly ensconsed around their political brain.
I'd vote, but I don't like any of the idiots running. They are all alike they all lie to you until they get in then they go back on what they said. The only thing I like about Ventura is that he will run his mouth and **** the d's and r's off. I'm not polling for any of the candidates. If I did vote it wouldn't be for some old guy using the fact that he was vice president for a campaign.
I'm glad I didn't watch the memorial/RALLY tuesday. I was playing my new PS2 game GTAvicycity. Even if I wasn't playing the game I wouldn't have watched it anyways.

Wolfmanagh: Why don't you try looking into alternative parties to the Dems & Republicans? There are several that may more align with your political philosophy, whatever that may be. There are the Greens, the Libertarians, the Socialists, the Communists, and probably other Independents I have not cited. Voter apathy is worse than no vote because it allows those who run the system to stay in power. If you don't like those in current power, this is your way to change it. Vote on Tuesday!
