Please Vote Anyway
Voter apathy. Mud slingling. We the people get tired of it. Who doesn't want to turn the chanel when one of those negative campain ads invades our home. Who would cast a vote for best mud pie tossed at an opponent? I'd rather watch a commercial about feminine hygine products. If you want me to vote, when you come into my home via the television, don't track mud into the house. Tell something positive about yourself, point out differences if you like, but leave the cat fights for the debate.
Voter apathy. Trust. This is a big one with many areas. If we the people vote for an issue, then this is the will of the people. As long as it's in Constitional boundries, don't let special interest groups subvert the voting process and let judges overturn the vote. At least put up a good fight. You may loose the fight but go down swinging and you will gain the respect of the voter and perhaps that person will vote again. That's why we sent you into office. Don't change your views for the P.C. police or vote for legislation to protect your campain cash. We want to turst you to fight for our views, we want you to trust us to vote you into or back into office for sticking up for us.
Voter apathy. I'm sure there are many more reasons to feel that your vote will not make any difference and it's easy to understand why. But we must vote. It makes all the difference in the world. This is the hireing and fireing process that WE do. People who will run our country are put in and out of office by our vote. Issues will pass or fail because of what WE have to say about it. Even if it comes down to a choice between the lesser of two evils, at least we still have a choice. Be informed and vote for the best one. Make the time and take the time. The only way to shake up the politicians and get some honest work out of them is to let them know that WE are the ones in charge and we are watching them with interest. I know there are a few here that I will vote for because I belive them to be honest because of what they say and what they do. They have earned my respect and my vote. I will also vote for the lesser of two evils on some issues and canidates. If we don't vote, then the ones who remain or are put into office will figure we don't care about what they do and they can do what ever they want. Who knows, maybe they will just do away with the voting process altogether. They will figure why not? Nobody votes anyway. To those who don't or might not vote, please vote anyway. Your country is depending on you. You'll be glad you did.

Excellent idea Rocky!!! I'll vote for that.
And I'll be voting tomorrow too.
One interesting thing about apathy. Why is it that you only usually hear it used concerning voting? Surely it applies to other things. Like this general discussion forum even. And yet apathy doesn't seem to be a problem here. There's lot of passion, and lots of heated discussion. Now if we could just channel some of that passion...
Great post DD.
