I actually followed the escape instructions. The only thing that was different was I wasn't able to pull the fabric off all the way. The plastic rod on the visor that snaps to the truck prevents you from pulling the fabric all the way back. Sorry if that doesn't make sense but you'll see what I mean. Anyway it made it difficult to cut a hole in the plastic visor. The lines are there but you have to cut away the filler material. After cutting away the filler material the black box will snap in. The box is quite hard to get in. I ended up breaking some of the tabs that hold it in place. I also cut the visor hole a little larger to help the box go in. All struggling aside the box fits tightly in the visor and everything looks factory. Good Luck!
Perfect and thanks and kinda know what you mean. By chance does your truck have the plastic visor extension too? And what color did you go with? I'm struggling to find out if I want to grey, tan or just go black to match the lower part of our FX4 trim.
Not sure what you mean by plastic visor extension. Or my truck doesn't have it. I went with tan because that's all I could find. It doesn't quite match as our headliners are in between tan and gray. The black would look cool. You can easily swap out the trim piece later or paint it as it just snaps on.
I didn't take any pics during the install and I'm out of town now so I can't take any pics of the finished product.

My Ford manual says the newer homelink will work with the old and new type of garage doors (dipswitch and rolling code). Also, my old homelink from a 2004 trailblazer worked with both, because I have both old and new openers at my home.
Did you already have lighted vanity mirror? I don't have Lighted mirror and can't find the factory wiring harness (assuming it's there). Does the power come from the center cabin lights or up from the pillar. Thanks. I have an 2010 XLT.
Did you ever find the wiring harness? I don't have the lighted visor but want to do this.
I installed one on my 2010 XLT. The first Homelink unit I bought off eBay was defective and the second had the wires cut so short that I had to replace them with longer ones. Holding the cloth visor covering back and trimming out the recess for the Homelink was the toughest part and getting the replacement wires to make solid contact with the terminals in the Homelink was the other tough part. One other bit of advice: plug in your visor and test the operation of the unit before you re-apply the fabric over the Homelink end of the visor. Guess how I know that?
