I'm fairly new and have found this forum to be chock full of great information and excellent ideas for mods. I'll be installing a dome light override switch thanks to some of the great threads I've read while researching my problem. I have one dome light bulb that gets extremely hot. In fact you can see some of the melting/burn discoloration marks on the plastic base. I was having an issue where the light wouldn't come/stay on and I noticed that the contact points were not tight. I'm not sure how to describe what Ford used for the electrical connection but if you've looked at it you know what I mean. I think what happened is that the heat melted a little of the plastic underneath the flexible connection to the point where the base was loose. I tried to put something underneath it to lift the flexible connection up so the base had something to push against. This worked for a while but it appears that the heat caused the flexible connection to break. I tried to tape it together with electrical tape but that didn't work for long. I checked at the dealer's parts dept. and they wanted to sell me the entire assembly for $800+. All I need is that flexible electrical connection and maybe a replacement bulb/base. Does anyone have a source for those parts?
Sorry, that's one I don't have. Your local salvage yards shoud have something. I know the local yard I deal with has about 5 X's and most of the interior pieces are still in them. Plus I think the F-250/350 shared that same dome light on some models??? not sure though
