I had assumed that the red warning light right above the e-brake pedal was for the e-brake.
However, I don't see any sort of switch on the e-brake bracket.
I also don't see any mention of the lamp in any of the 67 wiring diagrams. Edit: I just found the lamp shown on the instrument panel gauge, but no indication of where the switch is...
To elaborate further... The brake warning lamp is connected to the porpotioning valve switch. If you lose pressure from either the front or rear brakes the porpotioning valve will offset and shut off either the front or rear brakes so you can stop the vehicle.
There is a parking brake warning light kit that was sold as a dealer option, that hooks into this system as well. numberdummy may have more info on it than I do and what years it covers.
As standard equipment, the brake warning lamp is for brake failure only, and has nothing to do with the parking brake.
First year of a standard parking brake warning light, (That tied into the brake failure light) was in 1984.
Ah-ha! That explains it. I was really hoping for a e-brake idiot light. Thanks for the info.
Bill - if you do have any info on the optional light, I would appreciate it.
Thanks guys!
