i was talking with a guy i work with earlier today and he mentioned how he put his 1970 f250 up for sale for $4500 but no one called him about it. i've seen this guys truck and its really nice. he's a mechanic and has kept very good care of it. it has power steering, power brakes, no a/c, the interior is clean as well as the body. i live in california (central valley), is 4500 a good price or do you think he's asking too much? does anyone know the average for my area?
most of us are. i just like not having to pay to get my car smogged, i like not having to shell out lots of $$$ to get something fixed because i can do it myself. and i like not having a car payment. the gas is expensive but its not so bad, especially when you consider all the stuff i mentioned. i've seen a lot of trucks for sale in my area but they want too much. normally i think they would sell better but people don't want to pay a lot for something that gets 8 mpg. maybe hard core gear heads will but not most people. i understand that these guys have a lot invested in their trucks but if you really need to sell it you have to ask for a reasonable price. i'm hoping to sell the f250 i have for around what i paid for it then turn around and buy an f100 that has more of the stuff that i wanted to put on my f250. so far no luck finding the f100.
Things are worth what people are willing to pay. I bought my F250 (Central Valley, CA) for $750.00 It needs paint but mechanically had tons of new stuff with P/S,P/B, the 390 and C6 Camper Special with new brakes, tires, starter, fuel pump, dual exhaust, etc and 80k miles. It's a gas guzzler, but will tow a museum or anything you want!
i did find a blue 70 or 71 f100 today for 1500$. i called the guy and he said it had a straight six with power steering. the body looks good but i still need to go and take a better look at it. i only saw it from a distance while i was driving, noticed it was at a repair shop and called the repair shop about it. i'm not familar with straight six's though. i have heard they are pretty duriable. is there any benifit to a straight six rather then a 360? not sure if its a 240 or 300.
I have been driving a straight six since 1982 when I bought it new. It is on the second engine now. I have had fair luck with them. I am now driving a 70 F100 302 but still have the six. I think they are all good engines really.
