I am not confused with back spacing. I almost bought the 18" mickey thompson locks that are 10" wide with 4.5" back spacing. I REALLy woulda been screwed. It is barely and I mean barely rubbing on the mud gaurd plasic where the factory mudflaps go more towards the inside. I wanted them to stick out about an inch as you said which is exacly what they do. I need to pull back that plastic about 2 inches and I would clear the biggest bump while turning. I am having trouble with the kodak software but as soon as its done I will post pics.

I think the heat gun thing may work. Thats a really good idea I dont like rigging things it looks pretty uhhh yeah.

I have the 20s stock what back spacing are those? I was thinking of putting some 35 inch all terrains or something on them for summer? 8" wide?

Not positive on the stock backspace on the newer trucks, but I think its around 5.25-5.75" for the 8" wheels.

I was addressing PERFORMANCE RED, not you, but it sounds like you really are confused about backspacing after all, because less backspacing (i.e. 4.5" versus your 5" backspacing) would make the tire ride further outboard, moving your tire away from the inner edge of the wheel well plastic.

No, he has it right, he recognized that a 10" wide wheel with 4.5" backspacing would stick out and rub a lot more than his 9" wheel with 5" backspace.

I have 10" wheels anything less is a waste of a good tire.
BTW: I have TOYOs M/Ts they are a waste of good money.

FireKite: I think you confused him more. LOL.

He needs MORE back space.

I believe the factory 8" wide wheels are 5.79" of back space.
This guy knows his stuff about wheels and lifts.

Your reply didn't say anything about tire width and wheel offset/backspace.

I thought his problem was rubbing on the inside of the plastic wheel well liner, not on the outer, meaning the tires were riding too far inboard, tucked in toward the diff.

The tires are 35X12.5R17s. The rims are Eagle Alloy 1144-8087 -20mm offset BSM 4.65

They are the closest thing to an old 8 Spoke Wagon Wheel I could find. I still don't like them.

Well they don't stick out as much as I expected to rub with 8" lift, but -20 offset is about 1" further out than they need to be which would explain the clearance issue with only 35s.

I was hoping for 1" more then that. A Tall truck with skinny wheels & tires looks like sh$!, and rides even worst.

I tried to get you to tell us about your lift in the last leveling kit threat I saw you in, so I'll ask again. What kind of kit did you use, and how did you fix the radius arm and trac bar issues that come with an 8" lift?

Well, that's your opinion. I don't want to drive around in a wanna be lunar rover and have to was the sides of my truck off every day. My next tires are going to be 285/75/18s, which are still a 35" tire, but 1" narrower than what I have now. And the ride all depends on your wheel size, tire load rating, air pressure, and suspension. Crappy suspension with big wheels will ride like crap.
