I changed the first set of plugs about 2 1/2 years ago at around 70,000 miles. Gave each one a good shot of Kroil. After several hours, went about 1-2 full turns and another shot of spray. Let them all soak overnight. Didn't have a problem but they really creaked and groaned on the way out. Coated the new Autolite plugs (threads and shield) in the nickel based anti-sieze compound.
Changed them for a second time a couple of weeks ago at 124,000 miles. Started on the driver's side. Surprisingly, they came out with no creaks or groans. Didn't even use Kroil or any other penetrating spray.
Got to the front plug on the passenger side, first turn was tight but steady. Then, it felt as if it broke off. No resistance at all. I hit panic mode! Went ahead and sprayed the Kroil on all 4 on the pass. side. Let it soak good overnight. Started back the next morning to find that the plug hadn't broken after all. Not sure if the anti-sieze compound did any good or not but I went ahead and coated the new ones as well. Hopefully, the last plug change for this truck!
I have followed this issue on my 05 the posts on here scarred the **** out of me. I waited as long as possible till engine started to miss 110500 miles took to dealer they replaced all plugs trans flush and injector flush 600 and some change. They Broke coil clip but no plugs 600 in my opinion is cheap if its only every 100000 hell 1000 is cheap had truck since new no ther problems what so ever i am happy. For every bad post im sure there is 10 happy people that dont post so I thought i would contribute to the positive. Always run motorcaft 5-20 motorcraft filter
