Hello everyone well the truck has been blowing white smoke to the point where there is no visability behind the truck. Went to the dealer and without having to argue they stated the inner cooler is shot and has to be replaced. That was last week, I have an appointment this week. Here are my thoughts /? I already have had a radiator go, and now this should I be worried Im comming up on 36,000 miles and want a reliable long distance truck. Any buddies thoughts will help...
Its and "Intercooler" and the part being replaced is the CAC, cold air charge unit.
The water in the CAC gets blown into the engine making the white smoke. Not a longevity or reliability issue.
Radiators are a known flaw, you may lose two or three more as you own the truck. Fact of life with these. Luckily, it's a very slow leak when it happens and likely will not leave you on the side of the road unless it leaks for a long time and you don't notice it. Check the coolant level often.
FWIW, I had ther intercooler replacement done last fall. As of a couple weeks ago I was driving across the florida everglades and experienced the same problems as before. Acute hesitation after extended high humidity driving. Tried it again on the way back and still had the problems. Several others on here have had the same experiences. I have no solution to offer. I keep hoping someone will buy a Banks cooler and tell me it fixes the problem but so far no takers.
