E4OD updates and models
I am trying to gather up all the parts needed to retrofit my 67 pickup with an E4OD . I know I will have to build somewhat of a hybrid model and need help on sourcing parts. First of all I need a 460 bolt pattern transmission, but also need an output shaft for a speedo drive. Most of the upgrades came in 97 and later build dates and the 460 usage barely overlapped that production. I can get a '97 build transmission from a diesel for $100 . Is it worth buying to get the upgraded internals for use in an older 460 case? Also when did the steel planetaries come into production? I think that is a 4r100 item but not sure. I already know about the other facets of the swap(controller,vss,tps etc.) just concentrating on building a decent transmission first.
