E4OD Compatibility question Years / Models
Supposedly these ones have the most upgrades?
I have a 1990 F250 4x4 with the 460 engine in need of an E4OD.
Now when I search car-part.com it only lists 1989-1991 year trucks as the donor. I was surprised not to see all the way up to 96 year trucks listed, or even vans for that matter.
Could anyone please verify if I can use an E4OD from a 95/96 truck or van as long as it has the 460 engine?

As he advises you would need to change the solenoid blocks over.
This is good news, now I can shop around for a newer year transmission without worrying that it wont work.
it looks like the last year for the E4OD is 1998, and the first that had all the factory improvements was 1995?
so I should be looking for an E4OD from 1995-1998?
Is the solenoid blocks the only difference between years and the different models? Bronco/E-Series/Expedition?
From your reply it sounds like I can definitely use a newer year E4OD from a truck, I just wanted to make sure it could also come from the E-Series van.
Wikipedia lists (E4OD http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_C6_transmission):
1990–1996 Ford Bronco (95-96)? Nope, did not come with a 460
1989–1998 Ford E-Series (95-98)? only 95-96 had a 460, but not sure about 4x4
1997–1998 Ford Expedition (95-98)? Nope, did not come with a 460
1989–1998 Ford F-Series (95-98)?
EDIT:
I should probably just find one from a truck to be on the safe side, Just did a search for one from a newer truck and there seems to be plenty to choose from with trucks alone, without getting into vans or broncos/expediations
(Although an E4OD from a E-Series Van has probably had less abuse than one from a truck that has probably been haulin some loads in its life, not always the case but I figure probably true on average.)
