deleting threads?
seems like he got deactivated as well.
Out of curiousity, did he do something I missed, or is building an engine and posting a dyno sheet enough to be banned here?
just curious.
Thanks,
Drew
No commercial selling or advertising in the forums, except for sponsors. And non-commercial personal stuff is to be done in the Marketplace classifieds forum. Wanteds can be posted here, but in general selling and ADVERTISING is not allowed.
Barry is an ex-sponsor. As such, he knows the rules. He's been warned many times and the latest dyno run thread, AND the later comments in the same thread from him alluding to selling and questioning moderating policy, is against the rules. Being an ex-sponsor, there is no excuse for this, especially in light of the many times he's been warned.
Before deleting the thread, I brought the thread in question to the attention of our Administrators and the decision was made that it should be removed.
He is not permanently banned, and will be back in a few days if he so chooses.
Again, these are the RULES that are agreed to when you register. If you need to re-read the guidelines, click here: Ford Truck Enthusiasts - Discussion Forum Guidelines
ALSO, something else that needs to be said, given the discussion towards the end of the thread in question.
The ads here, when you are not a paying "supporter", barely cover the cost of running the website. And if you are a paying supporter, the money paid towards the membership still doesn't do much more than cover the cost of the website itself. And remember, if you don't click on the ads, you generate NO REVENUE whatsoever.
The rest of the costs are covered, and any profit is generated, by the SPONSORS of this web site. Without them, this web site would not exist. Because of this, we need to protect said sponsors from non-paying competition or the entire business model falls to pieces. We, as moderators, can not allow that to happen, so the rules must be strictly enforced.
Thank you in advance for understanding.

JMHO, seems like you just shot yourself in the foot by suspending Barry
The forum members seeking info may have gotten the short end of the deal here.
Full disclosure requires I admit that I did not see the original post in question.
Now since VW doesn't make trucks, how does a Chevy ad generate revenue on this website?
What if Jay Brown posted dyno data on here? Is that okay because he's not in the business? What if someone asked him to build them an engine based on his combo in the dyno?
If it's the same info I saw on FordFE.com, then it's just info, sorta like the Hot Rod article, it's what can be done. If not for the free flow of current FE info on here, why have a FE forum here? Probably the only knowledge posted on here about FE's is posted by members who are FordFE.com members as well, why rehash anyway?

From the looks of things, if you start suspending people for that one, there won't be many folks left
I was not offering to build engines as a business or as a paying hobby, I was pointing out that a lot of the parts for the 447 stroker engine are out there relatively cheap and a 600 hp 427 based engine is not all that hard to achieve, based on my experience. I stated $3000 to get across the fact that I didn't want to build any engines because I sure as hell wouldn't pay someone else to put an engine together that nearly anyone else could build and I would have to provide the parts and machine work too? PASS!!
I have built several low tech 427 SOHCs that put out 775 to 785 hp on a dyno in So. Fl. and when I worked at H-M Marine we built 600+ hp race engines that would run in the 7,000 rpm range in ocean racers. Believe me an engine that can take the pounding of those boats skipping the waves is one strong engine.
I remember a few years back this site in the FE room.. was Rockin..we would be up half the night having a few cold one's and talking our builds and giving out some info.. I have back way off this site just for that purpose.. It just isnt worth the Headache and Bull***** to trey and help another FE Fan out without getting you **** in some damn kind of trouble..
I'am outta here for awhile to cool off...
