What is the towing capacity of these excursions? It's a 4x4 with the v10 and 4.30 gears. I am buying a tandem axle 14k gvwr trailer next week and am curious if you guys think I can handle this fully loaded. I don't see why not - just asking I guess.
I plan to take this trailer next week to move some machinery about 700 miles each way. I can load it all the way if I so desire. I do have a weight distributing setup.

IMO, 14k lbs is much to heavy for an Ex. to tow. You are up in the F450 territory with that weight.

The towing capacity of your excursion is around 9500 +/-.
Accurate info should be available on line or at your dealers.
PLEASE, DO NOT OVER LOAD.
While you may have the power to pull the load, remember it must be stopped and controlled at highway speeds.
Have towed well over 300,000 miles with TTs ranging from 7000 to 10,000. All with Ford trucks of course, and always within the manufaturers tow ratings. (No accidents thus far...knock, knock on wood)

This sounds about right. 14k lbs would be way over that and would risk the safety of both the driver of the vehicle as well as other motorist. To the OP; please do not attempt to tow this much.
I don't want to overload it either - that's why I'm asking!!
So can anyone tell me definitively what the rating is? It's not a big problem - the trailer weighs 3600 lbs and the parts I HAVE to take are about 5000. So the rest can wait. I just wanted to see what I could put on there.
Double check the label on your receiver to verify what you have.
You didn't say which year your Ex is, but here are the specs for my 2003 4.30 V-10:
Hitch alone:
500 lbs, max tongue weight
5,000 max trailer weight
Over 5,000 lbs. requires a weight distributing hitch.
Weight Distributing Hitch installed:
1,250 lbs. max tongue weight
11,000 lbs. max trailer weight (Even though my receiver says 12,500 lbs., the owners guide says 11,000. This is due to a vehicle limitation either in the drivetrain, axles, suspension, frame, etc., and not the receiver itself.)

The Hitch capacities are for the hitch system. Check the manufacturers tow ratings for the towing capacities of vehicles.
Overloading the tow vehicle will void warranties and vehicle insurances.
