Can't make up my mind. So what do you guys think? I got enough play money for only one right now. Since there both about the same in price, which one do you think is the better investment?
My truck is an 03, auto, 3.73 with gibson headers,k&n, SPD y-pipe.
Thanks for your help.
Tuner definitely. Your stock exhaust system is 3" in diameter and mandrel bent. A cat back won't be any bigger in diameter. Unless your pipes are shot, put a Flowmaster 70 or other free-flowing muffler of your liking in there. You get the same net effect for a lot less $$$. With the savings you might be able to do both. Don't forget the stainless exhaust tip, too.
Power wise, is there a big difference between 87 performance and 93 performance?
I never tried the 93 tune yet because i can spin the tires on dry pavement with the the 87 tow tune. This truck will never be fast so why try.
The tune increased my thottle responce and towing milage from 8 mpg to 9.2 so I'm very happy!
I have headers, and the y-pipe on my '01, with the rest of the exhaust totally stock.
The tune shaved off a FULL SECOND on my 0-60 time, with 3.73's and 285/75R16's. Before, it was 10.0 0-60, after with the 87 octane, it was 9.02-9.04 seconds. That's with the datalogger doing the timing and speed to a file, and then checking it afterwards. It wasn't with my stopwatch
(Not saying it will do it to yours, given different PCM calibrations, years, total weight, etc, but it gives you a good idea of what's possible).
