A while back i posted that i needed help because my 4x4 would not lock in my 1963 f100 on the passenger side. I took the hub assembly out an disassembled it and i now believe it to be working correctly, however it is still not engaging.
What else could be the problem. like it said, the hub (the part that you physically turn) turns. before it didn't turn, but it still doesn't engage the differential and the wheel does not get power. where do i go from here?
for some reason when you turn the locker it is not pushing the internal gear into place correctly. warn makes some really easy locker kits which are all together and fit into the hub with a couple of snap rings. otherwise take off the outside and insid and see which part is malfunctiong. beware there are several pieces and have to go back together in order so lay them out correctly as you take them out>
So you think that it is the clutch body? Im having trouble taking off anything other than the clutch body. i have snap ring pliers, but even after i take the snap ring off i can't get any of the parts to come off.
The reason that i could not turn the hub before was because somehow it had a little bit of a ding/burr on it and it wouldn't turn. it was very small and after i took it apart and cleaned it up and smoothed it out with a dremal it worked fine, but it still doesn't engage. is it possible i didn't put it back together correctly? does it have to go on the hub a certain way?
is there a how-to or anything that i can use as a reference?
I locked both sides, but one day i got stuck in the mud and the wheels weren't turning.
after i got it out, i put the t-case in 2 wheel dive and locked only the driver side hub. the drive shaft spins, so i know the left side works. i then unlocked it and then locked the passenger side. When i rolled the truck forward it did not spin, so i know that something in the passenger side hub is broken. I'm trying to figure out what it is, any help is appreciated.
