2008 idle problem

2008 idle problem
I just recently bought a 2008 F250 with the powerstroke. I have a idle issue that doesn't seem right to me.
If I sit in park for a few minutes, maybe 5 or so, the idle jumps up to over 1000. I can hit the brake to cancel it, but in a few minutes it just does it again.
Is this normal?
Anyone have any ideas?

This is normal. If you read your manual it is doing a high idle because the PCM senses that the motor is cold. So this is the cold weather strategy.
Best not to let the motor sit there and idle away. These new diesels have a bunch of emissions now and idle will plug up the DPF and the EGR.
So I start mine in the morning for just a minute or two and then start out. Drive slow for a mile or so then you are ok.
