04 FX4 cruise control problems
truck is new to me , 88k miles 04 fx4 supercab flairside w/ 5.4 3v
CC acting up sometimes it doesnt come on , i can mess with the buttons on the wheel and get it on. occaisionally it cuts off for no reason. also when i hit the coast button the truck speeds up instead of slowing down. ant ideas or suggestions??

Also on the 2004 they have issues with the neutral safety switch mechanism that is on the gear shifter below the center console. I had to replace it on mine. Although mine would just cut out, and the cruise control wasn't acting up.

JJWESTBROOK If you still cruise here did the button replacement fix this erratic CC issue. The symptoms you list are similar to what I am seeing. I can also hard smack the steering wheel and change the symptom a bit.
