How do you know that? Were you around...back then? Uh...
I've never heard of a Sunpro tach.
SUN tachs were sold by speed shops, autoparts stores...back then and SUN was also one of FoMoCo's tach suppliers.
However, the FoMoCo tach's were not marked SUN, they were marked COBRA, or had the Cobra logo, or were marked ROTUNDA or had crossed checkered flags on the dial's faces.
Some had R P M at the center of the dial with H U N D R E D below R P M.
All these tachs are illustrated on page 17 of the 1965 Ford Passenger Car/Light Truck/Econoline accessory brochure.
The Rally Pac is also illustrated on this same page.

the name musta changed at some point?
No I wasn't around, but my pops was!
He has told me on numerous accounts that everyone he knew wanted one and he was the first of his friends to save up and actually get one, still has it sitting in our shop, it says sun super tach, and if you go to sunpro's site, here's the link to it: Sunpro® , that's exactly like it, says sun on the tach and I remember the old one saying sun, but when I looked it up all I could find was sunpro and WOW! there it was!
And like you Bill, studying history is one of my favourite pass times (well, I don't know if it's your favourite, but you get the gist), let's say you made a comment about the revolutionary war, someone could very easily ask if you were there and just because what you say may not have been from a book but a story passed down through generations doesn't mean it was wrong. possibly not true in all areas of the world, but the area you know, yes true.

just found from the company's website, company is named actron, straight from their company timeline/history:
1988 -
Actron licenses the rights to the Sunpro“ tachometer and gauge business from Sun Electric/Snap-On. Today’s Sunpro tachometers are descendants of the legendary Sun Tach products from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s known for their quality and dependability.

Speaking of wars, have you ever heard of, or visited the Civil War (War for the Southern Confederacy) battlefield in ARIZONA?
I'll betcha you haven't. You've prolly driven east of it (on I-10) a gazillion times.

have I been there? No, Have I heard of it? Yes, it's actually on my list of things I want to do this summer, along with Picacho Peak, the Casa Grande ruins, and I'll be up at the river most of the summer too. Been to the Pima air and space museum multiple times, and the Titan II missile silo in tucson.

Ever been to Old Tucson? This movie set was originally built in 1940 by Columbia Studios for the film (what else) ARIZONA.
How about the Riderless Horse statue dedicated to western film star Tom Mix just north of Florence?
Tom Mix was killed at this exact spot (also in 1940) when his car (a 1937 Cord) overturned.
I've prolly been to more hysterical uh...historical sites in AZ than both of y'all combined.
Do y'all know how Show Low got its name?

Old Tucson is not the same since the fire of 1995.
Um, Bill... Tom Mix is south of Florence, I have driven by many times in my life.
Ever been to Tiger, AZ? Do you know the story of Frances hill near Oracle? I was there yesterday.
No, I can say I don't know how Show Low got it's name.
Bill, What do you know about the San Pedro Valley Sheriff's Posse?
other than in the late 1800's early 1900's, My dad was President of it in 1969.
I have never been able to find any info of 1950's-60's time line.

The main street in Show Low is named the Deuce of Clubs.
I've never been to the gold mining town of Tiger...in the Bradshaws, but I have been to Bouse.
Dunno about Francis hill. The only thing I know about Oracle is the Bio-sphere is located nearby.
If you asked me about the original Arizona Rangers (1903/09), I could tell you all sorts of jazz.
Don't know anything about the San Pedro Valley Sheriff's Posse. Have you done any research at the Arizona Historical Society HQ's in Tucson?
I've been a member for over 30 years, I'll see if I have anything on the Posse.
btw: Ray Nelson, a long time local car collector bought Tom Mix's wrecked Cord from his estate and restored it. Then in the early 1960's, sold it to another collector.
The guy took it all apart, stuffed most of the parts in milk crates, so Nelson bought it back...and restored it again.
Nelson passed away 20 years ago, where the Cord is now...I haven't a clue.
Mix's death was caused by a gun. A steel rifle case he had on the package tray hit him in the back of the neck when his car overturned, killing him instantly.
btw, part I:. Are you attending the Western Nats in June? I have an extra copy of Bill O'Neal's book on the Arizona Rangers, it's long oughtta print, hard to find.
Lemme know, I'll pass it along. It even has your name in it!

Earl Francis was dumb enough to build his dream home very close to American Flag, (know where that is?),Story is he did not finish his 100 year lease agrement with the forest service before building, So when the forest service decided to take it away from him, he bought a case of TNT, sat on it and lit the fuze. august 15th 1966.
I had a contract with Miller homes and did a lot of Paintwork at Bio-Sphere, as recently as 2004. just before the UofA took it over.
Bill, Have you been to the Coke Ovens(also known as Cochran) near Florence? that is where they used to Smelter Silver, Copper and Gold using Apache indian's as labor.
I will check with the AZ historical society and see what i find. Thank's!

It was a dash and grab, I met up with Greg who is from Medicine Hat Alberta, he was in town for the rodeo. Went to the ace hardware off of JWB and picked up the Merc goodies he brought me from his brother. I dont have your number and left my other phone at home with Bills number in it.

This film bombed at the box office and is rated by all movie critics as a one star wonder, with four stars being the best.
If one knows where Oracle is, they shouldn't have too much trouble finding American Flag.
Did'ja know that Tombstone voters went to the polls about 20 years ago to repeal the "no guns in town" law enacted by town marshal Earp in 1881?
This wasn't Wyatt. Virgil Earp was the town marshall after Fred White was gunned down by 'Curly Bill' Brocius.
Didja know that the Bird Cage Theater was built after the so-called 'Gunfight at the OK Corral?'
The OK Corral had nothing to do with the gunfight, it was behind (south) of where the gunfight took place.
The gunfight took place in a vacant lot off Allen Street between Fly's Photographic Studio and a boarding house.
John Wayne's real name was MARION Michael Morrison! In 1931, he got his first starring role in the Fox film "The Big Trail" (which also bombed at the box office).
The director of this film, Raoul Walsh, gave Duke his new name. Wayne came from Revolutionary War hero 'Mad Anthony' Wayne, the name John was picked oughtta a hat.
Wayne was known as 'Duke' from childhood, he got the nickname from his dog! Wayne hated the name John, though he admitted it was was better than Marion. Everyone that knew Wayne, called him Duke.
Since 1956, I've been to AZ over 100 times. There ain't too many places in AZ I haven't been.
