My name is Scott. I'm from Dallas, Georgia. I have a 1965 styleside F-100. It was my first vehicle at the tender age of 16. 26 years ago. Long story short, I was a senior in high school and the engine blew, my dad was looking to buy a new truck so he gave me his little Chevy, bought a new Bronco and took the '65. After I got out of the military, I restored the truck for him. With his ideas and his money. That was in 1988. Fast forward to 2002, he gave the truck back to me. I started working on it with my ideas and MY money. I lost interest. Started too many other projects, life got in the way. The truck has been garage kept since the resto so the exterior is still in pristine condition since the original build.
I recently remarried after a long bitter divorce and now I have the fever again.
There is not a whole lot of an original '65 truck left but it wasnt original when I got it anyway. I am customizing it the way I want.
I have already done the disc brake conversion. The truck has an FE390 in it which I do not like. Good motor but there are just not a lot of "dress up" parts for it and when you do find them , they are high dollar. I just bought a '70 F100 for the motor and tranny. '70 302. I plan on doing a mild build and SHINEY!
I'm sure I will have plenty of questions in the future.
That's about it. Nice to meet you guys and I will ask away when needed.
That sounds like a great truck, and I'm sure it will be even better when you have fixed it up the way you want it. Post some pictures so we can see what's going on. You've already done some big jobs. Good luck with the rest of it!
Glad to see you still got the spark in ya. Looking forward to seeing & hearing more about your Slick. I have a 65 with a 302 I've intsalled back in 05 in it; as you mention ton's of after market items and price reasonably. I think a 302 to a FORD guy is like a 350 to a chezy guy. Parts are avaiable and price right. I've invested about 3K in my engine alone. So the sky the limits. Recently got some short tube ceramic coated stainless headers and plan on one day throwing them on as well.
Again Welcome aboard.
Welcome! I for one sure enjoy working in the garage taking a old car and making it what I have in mind, my problem is I get focus that I become consumed with it and there is no stopping me.lol
