i like the truck to have A LOT of torque. I don't really want to do a diesel conversion though. Does the V10 triton have the same problems with the heads/plugs as the V8?

How much more HP/TQ do you want and how much are you willing to pay? http://www.fordracingparts.com/image...M-6007-TVS.jpg

MobyDick...you just keep dreaming.
That engine you linked costs over $20k and that does not include the
computer or wiring or anything else that you will need.

SuperDutyScaler...that would be me that wrote about the heads that
I put on my 5.4. From what I understand, Ford Racing puts out some
heads to replace the stock 5.4 set, but they do not put out the power
that mine do. Trick Fow Specialties is the only head maker that makes
a custom design head that is totally independent from what Ford has
designed. These heads are nothing even remotely close to what Ford
makes. They swap the placement of the intake and exhaust valves for
better more direct flow. These heads also completely take care of the
Ford plug problem with large, full size, 10-12 threads (3/4 inch length).
All other head companies use the ****ty, original Ford casting designs.
TFS heads dyno a minimum of 50-60 extra hp/tq on a stock block.
I am guessing with all the mods that I have done, my truck now puts
out approximately 100hp/tq over stock.
Get on the TFS website and research what they have to say.
Call them and speak to Ed...tell him that Jon Langer in Texas sent you.

Are you using the Trick Flow Twisted Wedge 185 or the Trick Flow Twisted Wedge Track Heat 185 heads? Also, are you using 38cc or 44cc chambers?

I asked how much HP/TQ he wanted and how much he wanted to spend?

.
As for the statement in bold...with what intake manifold, and what displacement shortblock with what compression?
I'm not surprised that you're guessing. Put it on the dyno and KNOW.

Doesn't make a difference to me. But... wondering the same thing to go through the cost, time and not know for sure what HP/TQ you have.

On another thought is it like having a sleeper truck for the guy that pulls up next to you?

Johnny Langton...TFS dynos the heads at about 50-60 hp/tq over stock
on a stock block with no mods...this gives a 10:1 compression ratio.
If you use a very conservative average of 8 hp gain for each mod., I am
estimating a total of about 100hp/tq over a stock setup truck.

MobeyDick...yes I know, that was a nice thought, lots of power. Not for use in a truck though...the power band is too high.

Redford...I got the TS 185s with 38cc chambers (match for PI heads).
All of their other heads are designed for high end hp, for racing and not
good for trucks. They offer a complete topend kit which includes heads,
timing set with adjustable sprockets (to fine tune the cams), ARP bolts
and some other items too. All this cost me about $3k total, got me good
power and took care of all the Ford problems.

Mods include complete K&N intake, cut hole in fiberglass panel for 'ram air',
Gibson headers, custom y-pipe, single 3" Flowmaster exhaust system with
FM 70 series, SCT Livewire, fully 100% synthetic oils in everything, replaced the ZF5 with the ZF6 6 speed tranny, stock 3.73, etc.

Here's the flaw in your "calculations"...
TFS dynoed these heads on a 4.6L engine with a Mustang intake. NOT a truck intake.

So with all the stuff you have done you did not get the truck dyno tuned? Did you datalog and do your own tuning?

@ 400Ft#s at 3,000rpms who gives a crap about the upper "unusable" powerband.
