I have a 79 F100 LWB camper special that had
the factory CB, The radio is gone but all the
wireing is still there. Does anyone know of a
source to find one of these. I just found this
list and have spent hours reading it, it's great.
I hope I signed up right I'll see if this gets
posted.
Bill, You may find one still on a truck some where, but I really don't think you want one. That was not one of Ford's better ideas. It was about as worthless as teats on a boar hog. There was a time along there prior to the cell phone when cb'ing was hot, and everybody had one. Ford tried that thing because GM had offered the same thing in the caddy. Both were flops. The antenna was the biggest problem, they just wouldn't get out, when you keyed it up. If you really want a cb get yourself a cobra 29 and put it under the dash, get a good antenna and have it properly tuned, and have fun.
I have a 79 f100 ranger that has the factory installed CB in it and I find it nice to have for running down the road and short range stuff. but John is right if you want range you need a regular CB and antenna.I have both in my truck and if you can it would be worth it to see if you can find one. I havn't seen any in the wrecking yards around here. Good luck in finding one.
I have a 1987 with the am/fm/cassette/cb and in a word it "sucks" but it get alot of attention a shows. This option also came in the 77 & 78 lincoln. Nobody will touch it to do repairs either. I agree with jowilker.

I pulled one out of a Merc but couldn't get it to transmit. Car was burned and I had to cut the wires from the mike back to the unit under the package tray. Not sure if I got it spliced right and could never find a schematic. Anyway it would have been nice for short range stuff and you could hide the mike.
