you got pulled by a chebby? man, ive been jumped a couple times, but ive NEVER had to be pulled by one. usually im doin the pullin...
For all I know the saddle tanks were made by an affiliate of GM. Placed there to destroy my perfectly good fuel system and democracy! For the record that truck's only been pulled twice, the other time was a by a Caterpillar. And I've pulled far more chevys than they've pulled me.
The old school style bull bar bolts onto the frame horns. Mine has 1/4-inch side plates with two 1.5-inch horizontal tubes. I picked it up at a swap meet for $20. I've seen many on bowties at salvage yards but would need to be modified to fit by narrowing the tubes.
ok... im gonna have to buck up on this. my last post said ive never been pulled. well, yesterday, thanks to less than adequate tires and snow that was as deep as my bumper, i got stuck. now, i will say this, if i hadnt been concerned about a persons yard, i wouldve been able to see-saw my way out. as it was, i had to call my buddy, who drives a dodge. he comes out with my other friend in a chebby... im gettin new tires at my next available opportunity.
Yeah, I got one to...
I think it looks so much better than the new ones, we got the best and best looking trucks ever made, we are so lucky!
WOW! That must be a old picture, my truck doesn't look half bad...!
I didn't have much luck finding a source for 73-79s. The earliest I could find was for the 80-96 series from JC Whitney. You might be able to modify one I suppose.
I was totally surprised when I found mine... I was at a Goodguys show and just happened to eye the profile of the side plate that is contoured to fit the bumper profile. I asked the guy what it came off of and lo and behold he said a 78 Bronco. Serendipity.
JBG has them, but you gotta have a 78-79 bumper. Get one of those (they fit the earlier trucks) and then a bull bar, you're in business. As far as I know.
I have to say that these do not even look good on the newer trucks. No way I would put one on anything pre 97.
Those old school pushbar/bullbar setups are the way to go. I think the special edition option ones are sweet too, but I have only seen 1 or 2 of them in person, so I bet they are hard to find. I like the chrome ones like the one 76f350spercamprspeal has though.
The Bronco on the 3rd page of this thread looks sweet with the factory/dealer fog lights.
I have this one, it has been on my truck for more than 25 years, for all I know it was dealer installed. I am going to put it on the truck this week, I took it off for a while to see what the truck was like without it. Anyone know any more about this one? It is very strong, the new ones cannot compare to it's toughness.
It comes apart and can be used as a bullbar or brushguard.

yes! That's the one I'm talking about. So that was a dealer option? Or is the brush guard part aftermarket?
