Hey guys, I was removing the glow plugs in the driver side and I accidentally dropped the one in the #1 cylinder. I was wondering if i could lift the head just a little bit to get the glow plug out with a magnet? I would leave the exhaust manifold on and everything else. Just to lift up a little. Will that work? Any info would be great thanks
It must have broken off and fell in?? That sucks bad. I don't know if what you want to do will work. You are going to have to try and clean the surfaces and put a new gasket on that way. That doesn't sound like it will work to me. I think you are going to have to pull the head but maybe someone else will chime in with a good idea.
Is it possible to pull the injector in that hole and reach a magnet through there and hope??
The screw on part of the glow plug came out of the hole and the center shaft of the glow plug stayed in. So what i did was tap the center shaft to loosen it from the hole and it fell in wheni did that. I did try a magnet but it did not work
if you lift the head at all you have to replace the gasket b/c it will tear apart when you lift the head. i would be very patient with a magnet to try to get it out...
Hey bigdog, just sell the truck to me ill take it off your hands, im only 10 min from you ha, just kidding, Im lucky i never snapped a glow plug off yet although i did drop one in the lifter valley once but pulled it out with a magnet.
i think i have heard the if you pull the injector that hole is bigger than the glow plug hole
the injector nozzle hole is larger than the glow plug hole i'm sure. i would try that before taking the head off.. just make sure when you put the injector back in to suck the oil out of that cylinder and make sure you drain the HPOP rez before you pull the injector.. oh and make sure the copper washer comes out with the injector....
