Does any scope mfgr make those old tv view scopes anymore ? I haven't seen any for years & years. I think Redfield used to make them, maby others ? Anyone have one ?
I have one with the gravestone range finder. There's generally a good number and variety of the older well made Redfield scopes listed on e-bay, if you search for "redfield widefield".
I have 2 old Redfield widefields. A 4x & a 3x9. Both are in good condition but my Leopold is a much clearer scope. It has more eye relief also. The Redfields were great in their day. Modern scopes have better optics & are ahead in value.
I know Tasco is a low dollar brand, but some of their last scopes before they were bought and remarketed, were pretty decent for a low priced scope. The older World Class were pretty good and they had "TV View" on some. They have their place, low dollar rifle, low dollar scope. You can put just about any 1" scope on a .22 and do just fine for most uses, and most brands make a high quality scope and work down to their economy line.My bet is on the new Leupold made Redfields,a company with their rep won't let anything out that doesn't at least have basic quality.I have an older widefield 4x32 with a post and horizontal cross hair, used it on my Win Feather weight 30-06 for 15yrs,then had to move it to my CZ .22 mag auto and put a Burris 3x9x40 on the Win,my eyes couldn't produce that less than 1" 3 shot group at 100yds with the 4x anymore. That Feather weight is good for 3 cold shots then she starts stringing toward 1 o'clock, but for deer,if I ain't got him in 3,he can live and shame on me.lol.
I need a 3x9Vari X II Rimfire Leopold scope for my 22. I have a Bushnell on it now but its not a 22 scope. I have used one of my Redfields on it with good results. My Redfields are about 40 yrs old.I bought them in the early 70s I can't knock them, they have never failed me.
