i have a 96 with the 302 EFI and i too am having starting issues. At first i traced it to a bad starter solenoid, which then led to a bad starter. while i was there i went ahead and replaced the positive and negative battery cables. It worked for a while and then died on me again. So i went ahead and looked at the coil which had seen better days. so i changed that along with the dizzy cap and rotor as is usually replace those at the same time. from there things were good and then a week later nothing. i had the battery, alternator, TFI module all checked at advanced auto and they were fine. with that said the only thing i never messed with was the dizzy pickup coil. i attempted to start the engine and nothing. the pumps worked cause you could hear them, the relay worked cause i could here that but i wasnt getting any spark. so for *****s and giggles i jiggled the dizzy and tried again.....truck started right up and idled perfectly. so this weekend i will attempt to change the pickup coil as i think this one is not making contact, and i am also installing a MSD 6AL box, MSD coil and harness to try and 'help' this old girl.

good luck with yours and keep us posted.
