Well, on my truck, when I bought it, they had the stuff everywhere - whether it was the right place for it or not.
Most of the trucks I've seen with it (and I think you are talking about the welting with the bead on it), it is between the rear fenders and the bed. On mine they also had it between the upper and lower valances and the fenders. It looked kind of stupid there though. I took it all off my truck and I like it much better.
well the fender welt is already on i used the rubber stuff its nice this stuff looks like webbing isuspect it goes between the lower fender and the running board is there some between the inner fender and the outer fender at the top how about under the rad support or am i better off not worring about it at all this has been suggested
ot i was wondering if the cowl vent typically sits a little high on the vent assy thanx
I have it on every seam. I used the type with the bead only on the top edge of the back fenders. I use the non bead type everywhere else, anywhere two pieces of sheet metal met. Once the pieces are bolted together you can barely see it. I personally wouldn't go without it, for nothing else to help prevent the sheet metal parts from rubbing against each other and having rust form on the bare surfaces that result.
I've just disassembled the front end on my truck (I do not think it was ever apart) and like BobJ says, it was on every seam where 2 pieces of metal came together, fenders - inner fenders, valances, deflectors, hood latch panel, grill, fender braces, lower fender to upper seams....everywhere. I've seen it in various widthes up to 2". I know NPD carries anti-squeak in at least 1" x 50' for $30.
