I've known plenty of people who run spools on the street. spools are fine for lightweights like a jeep or early bronco, but for an F250, I wouldn't want it.

Detroits aren't very smooth. the locking and unlocking of a Detroit causes problems with the short light vehicles, but a 3/4 ton should help it operate more smoothly and the added length will help even out steering problems that might be seen on an under 100" wheelbase vehicle.

They don't make the E-locker for the 10.25 and 10.5 axles though, or I would have put one in. I did TruTrac rear and I'll put an E-locker in the front eventually.

You may want to read the .pdf file below regarding the Detroit Locker differential.

It appears that Eaton has a "New Improved" version of the Detroit Locker for the Sterling 10.25/10.50 application that minimizes the "noise" of the gears engaging/disengaging.

From the .pdf file previously posted... Page 19.

TO IDENTIFY
New IMPROVED Detroit Locker differential models in the 187S and 225S series' have an "L" added to the model number, such as 187SL-
16A. They replace the previous model.

VEHICLE PERFORMANCE
Performance is similar to that of NoSPIN/Detroit Locker - equipped light trucks, pages 3-4. The new IMPROVED Detroit Locker operates in
the drive - coast mode without the familiar harsh feel and sound. Everyday driving is quieter and smoother, yet maximum traction is
immediately available.

From the link below, it appears that Part# 225AL-56A is designed for the Sterling 10.25/10.50 axle. Therefore, it is the new version of the Detroit Locker. See row 2164 in the link (Excel file - Cross Ref Tab) below.

I 100% agree! Having E-Lockers front and rear would be the ultimate setup!
