Yes lol that is what I want. The fuel is up plenty high and maybe a little too high. There has to be a way to improve low end boost. Im sure there was some room left on the table for improvement with all the stock stuff. I know on powerstrokes they have upgraded compressor wheels and such. Are there any for ours that would make a lot better low end boost?
And why wont some turbo parts off a first gen 7.3 turbo interchange? Didnt they run off a wastegated t3/t4 setup also? So wouldnt it be possible to swap some of those parts over?
Two things will help get more boost at lower RPM's.
Ram air to the air cleaner.
Bigger turbo outlet flange and downpipe.
The harder a turbo has to suck air in through the air cleaner the slower/lower the boost is.
The harder it is for the exhaust to get out of the turbo, the slower it spools and the lower it boosts.
I think you should get a Boost Controller. I have one that works real well. It is a ball and seat valve that you put inline with the waste gate actuator. You can select the psi on it that the waste gate will open up at. With the stock setup, if the spring in the actuator starts getting weak, the waste gate may partially open up even before the 9 psi setting. This can cause a lag in boost. With the boost controller, if you get the right kind, air will only enter the actuator at the psi you select on the controller. This should increase the boost a little bit and help decrease turbo lag. I have a 7.3 with the factory turbo and a custom 2.5 down pipe, I see about 8 psi at 65 mph. It was about 6 or 7 before I installed the boost controller. You can get them on ebay for about 20 bucks, but make sure it is of the ball and spring design and not the restrictor design which will give you somewhat f the same problem as the factory setup, even though it may be a little better. Anyways that is what I have found out.
