Better Boost
I guess it could be getting about that time. But can anyone tell me the before and after after upgrading to the ats outlet. Just want to make sure that this isnt what is hurting my mid range boost before I go spending money on a pump rebuild.
Right now it is snowing, so my ram air is unhooked.
I am running a 7.3 turbo IP almost maxed out with DPS Stage 1 injectors.
ATS 3" outlet, with about 3 feet of 3" pipe after the ATS 3" downpipe before it splits to both 3" stacks.
I can still boost about 23 PSI at 2800 RPM when the right foot is on the floor.
And at that much boost, the smoke still gets a little black, nice dark trail from both stacks.
65 MPH boost between 6 and 20 PSI, EGT between 500 and 1100 degrees.
What is flat ground?

I have a stock turbo pump maxxed. I can take off from a light to the floor. It will pull 10 psi almost instantly. Then top at 13 to 14. No wastegate hooked up. Stock outlet and downpipe to 4" .No wrap on the up pipe. Tops egt ive ever had with new ip and injectors was 1000 in that situation. And I need to make a ram air intake. Thats pulling in hot air.
if you was getting plenty o fuel and was lacking air then your egts would be high and yours are not, which mean more than likely you gots a fuel problem
actually i wouldnt recomend G code injectors there not better than BB there worse they were made to be an emission injector, there is lots of people on OB that have tryed them and it really made there truck seem like it lacked power and lacked boost, BB codes is what you need, first you should just get a new ip then worry about your injectors later,
now if your interested in alot of fuel like 30%more than a stock pump can give you i can tell you were you can get one, that would give you alot of availible fuel and boost.

Well I was thinking that if I get a new pump I would get a Reman turbo pump from Pensacola for only $325. And then turn it up and then I could mess with that screw on the back and get it set where I want it. But I'm confused, if im getting black smoke at that speed, doesnt that mean I have plenty of fuel? And where would you recommend I get a pump from? Keep in mind that my budget is very small.
Before you start spending big bucks we need answere to some questions.
1 Where is your pyro probe located, This is real important.
2 What altitude are you at.
3 what speeds do you average driving. and rpms.
4 What kind of loads are you pulling.
5 what is your location, mostly flat, Hills , mountains.
When you are in high gear and only at say 12 -13 hundred rpm,s do you get a lot of black smoke.

Okay well I was thinking about it and I dont think im having fueling problems. The whole reason I want more boost is to clear up the slight haze of smoke coming out at 55. When i am running 65 at about 3.5 psi however, there is none. So if Im getting smoke that means I have plents of fuel right? And I dont have a tach so I cant answer a few of those questions. But I live in northern Indiana, completely flat. And my pyro is in the manifold. If I cant find a way to increase my boost a little to burn off that small amount of excess fuel, Im afraid that I will have to back my fuel off slightly, which i dont want to have to do.
have you floared this thing yet to see if it boost up? have you found a big hill or is there even a such thing were you live?
mostly turbos dont make much boost unless there getting plenty o fuel and the engine is under some sort of load

but what your wanting is more low speed boost aint it? the only wa to do that may be to turn the fuel up, or you may not be able to achive that goal, i have no idea what the ats upgrade will do for you, but i do know from looking at it and looking at the factory housing that it ridiculous what they did to the factory turbo
