I was wondering I have bone stock 94' Ford F250 7.3IDI Diesel. I was wanting to do a decent size lift on it. I was wondering if I could get some ideas or what people think?
wanting to do something like this YouTube - burn out with the old 7.3l idi turbo diesel about the same height.
D60s are a straight solid axle easier to lift because you ncan lift it with springs without changeing the steering geometry, also it is waaaay tougher so that a larger tire can be run without breaking it.
Guess thats why big rigs are often so close to the ground. Love the Peterbuilts.
I'll add my voice on the "do not lift a TTB" side of the discussion.
TTB if left stock works fairly well for most situations but it becomes unreliable when running larger tires than stock and lifting the front end will wreak havoc on tire wear. I am of the opinion that most tire wear problems we hear about are either from worn components, or modified suspension geometry. A Dana 60 is a bolt on upgrade anyway.
lol really? thats why? hmm. well if you are lifting your F 250 definitely try to find a dana 60. most of the time it is cheaper to find a F350 parts truck then it is to buy the axle alone. and go with all leafs, not lift blocks, because you will get harder wheel hop ( the herky-jerky when you spin your tires). also if you have a two piece driveshaft, remember to space your steady bearing. i have a 92 on 6" and 35's with ttb. i've broke the lift bracket twice and my shackles once so now im waiting for the nice weather and i'll swap in my D60. also if you are towing, just buy a load bag kit, you'll love it. mine was sweet. in fact, when my passenger shackle rusted completely apart my airbags were the only thing holding the damn truck up for a few thousand k's.....
