I have a question about the custom cab dash. I have a 65 custom cab with the optional oil pressure and amp gage. I have seen a piece of trim that mounts to the dash and then the switches mount through it. It says custom cab on it. Were these OEM items or aftermarket? And does anyone know where I might be able to score one?

Welcome to FTE
Is your '65 Custom Cab an F100/250 2WD or 4WD? Is it an F350 or larger truck?
1965/66 F100/250 Custom Cab 2WD's have a sweep speedometer mounted in an engine turned plastic instrument cluster (C5TZ10838A), which has been reproduced.
Originally, oil and amp gauges were an option, so the original FoMoCo replacement cluster and the reproduction, has to be cut out with hole saw to install the oil/amp gauges, which mounted to the left/right of the fuel and temp gauges.
All 1961/64's, 1965/66: F100/250 4WD's, F350/1100 Custom Cabs have a round speedometer mounted into a chromed steel instrument cluster that has Custom Cab marked on it.
There were two blank spaces, one on either side of the speedometer where the optional oil/amp gauges were mounted.
AFAIK, this panel has not been reproduced. No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any, but...
There are many used clusters around, since it was found on far more trucks than the plastic cluster was.
This same cluster (C9TZ10876F replaced C1TZ10876A) was also used in Custom Cab: 1961/69 N/NT/T500/1000's and 1967/69 F800/1000's.
I have a 65 F100 2wd Custom Cab. My instrument cluster is in decent shape, the item I am curious about goes below this in the area that is normally painted. The area where the switches mount to the dash.

You are talking about the molded chrome trim that goes across the bottom and the headlight switch, wiper, choke, etc runs through. I used to have one but don't remember what year it was in.
Bill: It appears he is referring to a trim piece that sat under the instrumentation covering the lower painted area of the dashboard between the instrument cluster and the steering column. It was form-fitted to the lower dash curvature, and the switches and ***** protruded through it.
I have seen a few of these, all chromed, and appearing to be original only for '63 or '64.

There's no parts catalog pic, but...I did find the following by trolling thru the body (text) section of the 1957/68 Ford Truck Parts Catalog.
However, it is not listed in the revised edition of the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog.
In late 1968, Ford split the truck parts catalog. The 1957/63 catalog was now bound paper, 1964/68 was loose leaf. Thru 1972, new loose leaf pages were added.
I too have one...its a 64 and prior trim piece...all the switches go thru it....lights to heater stuff...its stainless steel with stenciled name and such...

Uh huh...
With its specificC4TZ part number prefix, and the fact that the 1957/68 truck parts catalog only lists it for 1964/65 F100/250's, it's isn't a prior 1964 anything.
What's the ID engineering number on the backside of this panel?
I'll save you the trouble of looking, kiddo: It's C4TB-8104438-A or -B.
There is none...just a flat basic stamping...would have to have been rubber stamped...But the one I do have did come off of a 64 though...I'd swear Ive seen them on the earlier rigs though...but a PO could have easily put it on ...a very easy piece to put on any of the trucks.
