The headgasket went well, I had the guy who rebuilt my FE do it, he's in De. I forgot about him, found his #. He's retired and does it in shop behind his house. He'll forget more than I'll ever know about building motors.
he's trying to get a spark plug back into the motor, someone was a real mechanic, and cross threadded it, his skill level is a 2, and his tool collection is from the dollar store, but I give him an A, because he will get right in there, and go for it.
Dusty, if were talking a scale of 1 - 100, I might make a 2. If you're talking about that guy that my niece had, the FORD mechanic, then yeah, I'd give him at least a 2, maybe even a 3. After all, he did wrap those old plug wires with electrical tape. Not only that, but he knew enough not to just buy another pos. battery cable, he just cut up an extension cord. I'd never thought of that. This heli coil kit actually has two different size taps on one. Haven't checked them yet, but the bottom one ( Duh! ) is smaller than the top one & then there's a space with no threads before it gets bigger We have a Sears hardware close & then a regular Sears a few miles away in the mall. We also have a K-Mart closer than the Sears hardware. Need to go back out anyway to hit the bank, I'll try the Sears hardware first since they're right across the road from the bank. Good idea taking the plug with me. Hope I can buy just the one tap. Don't want to spend the money for a complete tap & die set right now. Thanks for all the help & advice. STILL glad I found . You have all been a big help.
Well, I'm back. So much for that bright idea. Sears ( hardware ) only goes up to a 12 & to get that big, you have to buy a set. Could try Harbor Freight, but I wanted a good quality one.
