Rough Country makes a 4" lift with shocks for $609. It is new springs for the front and blocks for the rear. recommended tire size is 36". I am installing one on my crew cab when I get home from Baghdad.

Wow,that sounds like a great deal.Dont forget about regearing along with those 35,36 inch tires. With a computer equipped vehicle you could experience your computer seeing to many rpm for the speed you are traveling especially at highway speed 75-85 mph.It can throw you into limp home mode, you will think your tranny is toast. But all you need is gears.**** Squirrel Video by Torrid Angel - MySpace Video check out this anology
= the reverse shackle and superduty springs are fine for a "road queen" you will not get more performance out of the reverse shackle lift offroad.

besides that, he says he doesnt want to go much more then 750 for the lift. just the dana 60 alone is averaging 1200 for just an axle, then you typicly have to go through it and replace ball joints and steering components, add the track bar brackets and buy a longer bar, and you are easily at 1500 for just the axle. then buy the sd springs and shocks and you are way overbudget. AND after that, you have a solid axle instead of an independent front end. the independent axle will perform much better offroad any day of the week and it rides better onroad as well
I'm still learning about these diesels but I have always thought of the independant front suspension as being poor offroad but good onroad. All the serious offroaders have solid fronts including my buggy And plus the TTB has alignment issues wheras the D60 fixes that issue

Yes,opinions are wide and varied in the long run many end up chucking there lift kit for the venerable dana 60 or rockwell or ?I had a high dollar lift kit until I decided to change, and change is good I hear. But its heavy in my pocket.

i would like to know where you get your info from. you do not have to re gear when changing tire sizes. it makes no difference at all what size tire you put on your truck. the pcm has no idea what size it is and doesnt care at all what rpm you are turning at any given speed. the only thing effected is the speedometer. i ran 38.5's on my other truck with no issues and i am sure others have gone larger without changing anything.

i alos dont know why everyone thinks the dana 50 has alignment issues. the only way you would have issues with a dana 50 is if you just threw springs on it without changing the i beam brackets. any reputable lift kit will supply all teh parts and hardware to properly lif the vehicle. There are no "cheap stamped parts" in my lift and i have absoluty NO issues with alignment. the only time i ever algn the truck is when i change ball joints or a steering component. other then that it is never changed. i rotate my tires every oil change and have no cupping, chopping, inner or outer edge wear on them. if your dana 50 is wearing tires tehn you have wore out parts or need a new alignment shop

my alignment is good, same tire wear everywhere. I just heard that from a hand full of places.
when you had the 38.5's, did you regear?

ok, hopefully this will deter the dana 50 tire issue, i just went outside and took some pictures of my old tires that i still have off of my truck. the only ones missing are the bfg at's that had run, i got rid of them but they looked teh same as all of the following pictures.

first up are my bfg mud terrain km's. this is the old rubber compound, not the new set. i got over 70k out of the set and saved 2 for spares and still have them mounted on the stock steel rims for spares. 315/75/16 load range d

next up are teh off brand 33x12.5x16.5's load d i ran for a while, not a whole lot of miles on these as i busted a belt on one of them and had to change tires.

next up is my 36x12.5x16.5 military bias ply tires. load c, if something is going to cup it would be these, the pics show different and they are down to about 1/4 of their life left. the bubbled center is normal, its how these tires ride, even brand new that is how they sit, they are on 10 inch wheels as well with 35 psi.

lastly is my current tires, the 37x12.5x16 load E. they had about 6k on them when i bought them with minor cupping (from a dana 60 truck) and i have put another 6-7k on them already. notice i have actually worked most of the cupping off already with fast rotations to smooth it out at 2k intervals.

Woah back there Pike. A lot of us here have a great deal of respect for Coon as he's proven himself to us all over several years. This is a friendly forum and I'd rather not see it spoiled by hot and bothered newcomers. Opposing views are always welcome, but please post with respect. I just installed a sky RSK and D60 with my 2wd to 4wd conversion. I personally love it, but am not about to slam someone else simply because they think otherwise.

I am truly sorry for making anyone all butt hurt,So much so that the cavalry had to be called Whoa, page back and see who came stomping in with his jack boots.Nice to see you like the rsk and dana 60.I think coonhunt siad that gives you no added performance on or off the trail.I have used the sky products on my rigs good quality.

Gobmt statistics have shown that starring at your reflection while cruising the mall is dangerous to your health especially with 38 inch tires and no gear swap.

I am currently working on a dana 50 IFS swap.Im looking to trade my junky dana 60 for a bent and twisted 50 to swap in
should be a easy swap.My uncles budy has one he will trade for my 60 and 1000.USD is this a good deal?

Coonhunt I got a good deal on some kumhoe superswampers they would look good at the mall

I gotta go now Trucku is on be back later
