What exactly are our Excursions? I have an 05' deisel with the towing package. Is it a Super Duty? Is it a SUV on a F350 or F250 chasis. What does it share if any with the Super Duty F350 and F250? Tom.
Our Excursions are on a F250 frame. They share the same motors, most of the same body parts, most of the interior parts, same axles, same mirrors and the list goes on. The Excursion is basically a F250 and i believe its on a F250 reg cab frame.
just the the explorer and ranger share from the dash forword(91-01), the expedition and the f-150 sharing dash forword(atleast 97-02) the excursion is based off the F-250 and shares many many parts with it.
To be more accurate, it is from the B Pillar forward that the Excursion shares with the Super Duty chassis. Same goes for the F150 and the Expeditions.
It is in a class of its own as a heavy hauler of sensitive items (stuff that you would toss in the cab on regular pickup) and as a hard to stop long range cruiser for coast to coast roadtrips.
Besides the Excursion the only other vehicle that was public sold once (and bashed as much if not more) was the H1 Hummer hitting its apex with the H1 Alpha in 06.
These two vehicles were the perfect examples of the balancing act in automotive engineering as expressed below.
Practicality + Comfort + Multipurpose-ness + Power is inverse of fuel effecency and initial costs.
