2003 Expedition rough idle

I have (OK...my wife has) a 2003 Expedition with a 5.4L (120,000km) that runs great except for one issue.
When warmed up, and stopped in drive (or reverse) it runs rough.
It otherwise runs fine, idles in park fine, drives great! Gas usage isn't affected.
It may be a coincidence, but this started happening after sitting outside in a blizzard, then being brought in to thaw out in the garage.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all in advance!

Any chance the engine block or one of the cylinder heads froze up and cracked?

I don't believe it could have froze up "alloro", the antifreeze is good to -45C and it was plugged in. there are no external leaks, and the oil also is clean. I checked the vacuum lines, and all is good, with no check engine light. Any other ideas?

Same problem

I have an 04 Expedition with the same problem. Ive had it to the dealer five times now. They have done a full tune up on it and replaced two coil packs. it runs fine in park but once its warm in in drive the idle shakes the entire truck. Its worse when we pull up to a traffic light. The dealer has had two different techs look at it and they say it's not giving off any codes so as far as they are concerned it's running fine. There has to be a reason for this. It was running fine up till about two months ago.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

OMG, it's a good thing I wasn't drinking something when I read that line. I would've sprayed it all over my monitor when I burst out laughing. The dealer's "techs" can't diagnose a problem unless they're given a code!!!! For this level of service they charge what...$150 an hour these days????

Alloro, pretty funny but sadly too true. It seems like most auto repair today is actually replace parts until it works better.
There are many many threads that report vacuum leak and rough idle. Since the code-reading techs can't find anything wrong and have probably replaced most of the usual suspects I'd go on a vacuum leak hunt. They seem most common close to the intake manifold.
