I just bought a 05 Expedition 5.4l 155k miles. Check engine light was on when purchased. I took a chance. It has a rough idle at startup for a brief second or two. After that it drives fine. Plenty of power, smooth. When I come to a stop light, it starts idling rough again and feels like it's going to stall. Feather the gas a little and smooths back out. I had the codes checked. Was a cam shaft position sensor code. I replaced both sensors and the problem still exist but no check engine light. Can anyone give me some advice.
I would first check all the vacuum lines for leaks, particularly the PCV hose where it connects to the throttle body.
Sounds like the Idle Air Control valve might need to be replaced.
Try cleaning your old one which may help for awhile to see it's the problem.
Thanks, I'll check those. My check engine light came on again. Code shows cam shaft sensor again. I know those are new, I'm going to start checking wires to them. Would anything else give me that code. Thanks
Every time both banks show up is due to the VCT solenoid being clogged or your cam phasers are worn to the point where they advance or retard the timing where they please.
So I'm now getting 6 codes.
P0345 Camshaft position sensor A circuit bank 2 comes up twice.
P0455 Evaporative emissions system leak detected gross leak/no flow comes up 4 times.

What code did you get?
P0345 could be the solenoid that operates the phaser.Or the phaser its self .There is a video on U tube how to check it and replace it .Google search .
P0455 make sure the gas cap is on tight .You kinda need some special equipment to
diagnose that one .
