I saw a free 84 f250 tailgate on Craigslist and am wondering if it will fit my 92 f250. Is it do-able?

 

no its shaped a little different and different latches and the way that it mounts

i tried to put the one off my 88 on my dads 86 that he had and its just too different

the 84 uses latches like ur doors do... the bed has a stud that sticks out and the gate latches on them like ur doors latch when closed

the newer ones use a well dead bolt type of latch.... if that makes since... is 3:45 here lol srry if im not maken since ill answer any questions this causes later

 

It would fit, but some angles are different and you would have to swap over all the older style mounting hardware. The pivots points are different sizes and the latching points are completely different, striker bolts versus hoop latches.

 

If yours is trashed and its free, all the mounting pieces can be gotten from LMC if you cant get them from a boneyard. Gotta think the hardware from a boneyard will be cheaper than a tailgate.
