My 93 300 was missing on cylinder 6 and I narrowed the problem down to the injector. I replaced the injectors and it ran really good, no miss or anything for a little while then it started to not really a full miss, but kind of a stumble every 3 to 5 seconds. Then the problem got worse all of a sudden. Now it will completely miss for 3 or 4 times and maybe hit a time or two and miss some more. I've checked compression on all cylinders and they range from 130 to 140 psi. Ive checked the plugs for spark and all seem well. I've also change plug wires, dist cap and rotor. It seems that ive narrowed the problem down to the number one cylinder. when i pull the boot off the plug i cant really hear the " hit and miss" anymore ,just missing. My question is do injectors go bad and miss like this "hit and miss"? They were reman's from ebay but looked just like brand new. Maybe it got some trash in it after running for a little while. I'm really aggrivated if it is the injector cause I just got them a week ago. Thanks guys
swap plugs with another cylinder, see if miss moves, then same with injector if that didn't work.Do a search on here, there is a way to check for consistent signal to injector, could be a faulty connector, not making it every time.I hope you have recently changed your fuel filter. You will get more help on here from others,I'm a little weak on electronics.Plugs are cheap,I would eliminate that variable first, and yes,new ones can be bad, seen it many times.
Ok here's the deal. I got up this morning and went out to start the truck. Started up and didn't miss a lick for about 10 seconds, then started stumbling and then went into a full miss on cylinder one. I changed out the plug and wire from a working cylinder and no change. I changed the dist. Cap and rotor back to the old one and no change. Something else I discovered, if I rev it really high, maybe hit the rev limiter a time or two it will come back down and idle smooth for a second or two. The only thing I can think of is the injector got clogged by some trash in the line. I just changed the filter not to long ago but the one I took off was in pretty bad shape. . Anybody have any ideas?
Maybe you could find a local place that could clean an individual injector.I know that there are places that do it,you may have to just do a lot of looking. It sounds like your right about it being plugged up.I know it is a lot of work, but if you could swap with another cylinder, that would nail it down.
So I just got done swapping the number one and number two injectors around. And now the miss is on cylinder two, so its definately the injector. Boy I've got great luck. 1st I had a rats nest in my clutch and it wouldn't catch. Then replaced a bad fuel pump, then I replaced a bad fuel pressure regulator, then I replaced all the injectors, and still am not done. I'm beginning to think this truck is cursed. LOL
Have you had the truck long?Sounds like someone either ran gasahol or some of that "fuel system cleaner" through it,to have all that fuel system work in a short time. You may want to change a couple fuel filters close together after you get it straightened out. What year is it?I use fuel injector cleaner about every other month, any good brand, but I stay away from those complete system cleaners, because you never know what they are going to cut loose.Get in the habit of listening to your truck after you shut it off,for the fuel pump.Me and my best friend have both lost a pump due to a relay sticking, pump kept running after we shut our trucks off.Hope you are through with the bad luck when you get your injector fixed.
So I put another injector in and now the truck runs flawlessly. Not a miss anywhere. I am recieving a cel after driving for a little while. I figure it is something egr related ,not sure, due to the fact that my vac line to the egr valve broke. I want to reccommend the eBay seller lucky7autoinjectors due to the fact that he was so nice about the bad injector. He even sent me an extra one with a note that said "this one's on me". Really nice guy. Thank you guys for your time and input.
Great! Glad to hear you got it running good.It was nice that the guy on E-Bay fixed you up like that,if it does this again, you've got one to put in.If you ever run into that pump running after you turn the key off,tap on the pump relay,if that don't do it,pull the battery cable off.You may never run in to it,but if you do,you can save a lot off grief by doing that.
