7700 questions

ok this may seem stupid but hear me out.

I am trying to figure out other than the frame and the transmission what is different on these trucks from a regular f-150 (the one im looking at has a 4r100)

The tranny is no different from other 5.4L F150's, the axles are beefier, 10.25 IIRC and I would assume the springs, I've never heard anything about the frame being any different though.

its been posted lots..

- 7 Lug Rims -
- They have a larger frame then the F150
- Bigger Brakes
- 3:73 10.25 sterling rear end from factory
- 4R100 Tranny
- Extra leaf in back
- Larger Torsion bars -
- Heavier towing capacity
- Weigh more -
- Larger rotors, I believe 13.5"
- HD shocks
- power steering cooler
- 4700 lbs rear axle
- HD rad, thicker
- HD alternator
- HD battery
- LT tires standard, load range D
- the tranny is the same as a F250 SD and the F350 SD which was behind the v10 and deisel 1000 lb torque capability
- 8,600 lbs towing
- 11,500 lbs GCVWR
- 7,700 lbs payload

also, read the door jamb sticker. If the axle code begins with a letter, it's LSD. Example - B6 is a 3.73 LSD, 26 is an open 3.73. If the last number is other than 6, then you have something other than 3.73's. The tranny code is E for a 4R100, U for a 4R70W.

7700lb, is the GVW, not the payload.

The 5.4 7700's and F250LD's should have the 4R100 whereas trucks with the 4.6 have the 4R70W.

so is the difference in the leaf packs just the extra leaf? will the leaf pack from a 7700 fit a standard f150?

I'm not completely sure but I think the 7700 leafs are the same length, I do know that they are the same width (2.5 inches).

oh ya, mine has the tranny cooler too, forgot about that... the rear leaf springs are the same length and width 2.5" just with one extra leaf... it took me a while to find rear add a leafs for the truck cause i thought they were different than regular f-150's but they are the same.

ya it is a beefy truck, best truck i have ever owned. i wouldnt be able to replace it, i'd have to go for a superduty with a diesel in it if anything.

I agree completely! Instead of upgrading to a superduty, my truck is getting a V-10 this summer.

That should be an interesting marriage. You must be pulling a trailer a lot to do that.
