Well, I just ordered the parts from partsguyed.com. Had to ask a question about a part and he was super fast to reply back. So far I think I have found my new Ford parts shop.
Anyways, I really wanted to post a picture of the guides I am buying but I give up. I have read about how to do it in the FAQ section, but what they describe and what I get when replying to a message are 2 different things. This is the only forum I am a member of that I can not figure out how to do it. I am thinking it may have something to do with my neewbe status. Anyways, thanks for all the help guys. I will be on vacation this valentines weekend but I hope to have this truck going the following week.
not sure where your located but i have a ZF 5 speed for sale. it was on a 1989 f250 diesel and taken care of. wasnt used to beat on. also i have a new clutch pressure plate assembely
Well, the diesel bellhousing is different than gas. But I just so happen to know someone with a 6.9 diesel with a 4 speed (T19 if I remember correctly) who is very interested in finding a ZF 5 speed so hew can have overdrive. How much you want for it and where are you located?
Im selling the trans and new clutch and pressure plate as a unit. The clutch has 100 miles on it. I put it on and than crashed the truck so very low milage. The fly wheel is a daual mass and asking $400. Id like to get $900 for the trans combo. It wasnt used to plow and was on a 2wd. Im in central new jersey close to pennslvania
The stud is 15mm so the plan is to drill a 19/32" hole up inside
the C700 lever and set-screw it in place... http://www.panix.com/~alvinj/file12/gearshifts.jpg
The C700 gear shift lever has been cut off just above the ball.
Figuring I'll need to shorten it a little bit, but not -too- much! :)

It's just going to be some 4130 most likely. I have the handle started, but I left it short so I could weld a smaller diameter to lengthen it once I had the transmission in place and could figure out the distance. I may make it a little bit longer than the factory handle.
Steve, so how's the weather?
What have you been working on?
Was it something besides the ZF shifter?

Well, me and the family spent the valentine/presidents day weekend in Chatanooga TN, the wife visited with her family while I purchased a Clydesdale horse. On our way home we visited the Jack Daniels distillery. We got home monday night and was welcomed to 26 degree weather and a few more inches of snow.
I have been working on a 88 F250 that I recently purchased. It has been sitting for several years and thought it just had bad fuel. Well, turns out it does have bad fuel, along with 3 bad fuel pumps and the engine had 7 bent valves. So I have been working on putting in a engine from a 94 350, getting all the fuel system going and fixing little things I find wrong as I go such as the super sloppy shifter. Now that vacation is over, I plan to get back to work and should have the engine in no later than this weekend.
