I do not think you will feel a ''seat of the pants'' difference but rest assure, your turbo will be getting very clean air
If you decide to go withthe 6637,Clay(Riffraff) has the best price on them and he has a kit to switch your truck overe to one....Good luck
Having been a moderator on other performance boards, I have to admit that there is a fixation for air intakes amongst the enthusiast crowd.
It's probaly because they're relatively cheap and easy to drop in.
I wouldn't look for huge hp/torque gains from an intake, but something that riverrat mentions is that real important is clean air, especially with the turbo being downstream.
Has anyone come up with a way to eliminate the noise of the 6637, I tried one and took it off because of the noise. I pull a camper, and it starts to get annoying after a few days on the road. The noise after 6 or 7 hours of driving is just about too much.
Are you talking about whistle or turbo surge.I can understand not likeing the sureg but I like to hear the turbo sing.JMO
Its a totally different sound when you set and drive at a steady RPM for hours. It is not like driving around town. ( I like that too ) But 300 miles at a time is a bit much.

Yep, either build your own filter shroud or put on a different intake that comes with a filter shroud.

What you're referring to is drone. As Clux mentioned, the way to kill the drone is to build a box around the filter or buy a CAI that comes with a box around it. Otherwise go with the Ford AIS set up.
I like the AIS set up, I just don't like the price. I may try to come up with some way to isolate the 6637. If I use 6637 sealing it up air tight won't be a big concern. We will see what can be done.
To be honest I can't see any performance difference or fuel milage change with the 6637. Thanks again.

Yep -- just put a Chris-Box around it. I have been thinking about it as well. It's not for the sound though -- I like it! Been on many long drives and it doesn't bother me. I just want to get the thing sucking outside air. Partially for principal, partially so my AIT sensor can double as an external air temp sensor that I don't have... LOL
Chris -- if you have some spare time, let hook up and tackle this... I'm buying lunch/dinner/beer... Whatever it takes.
Chris thanks for the pics of your fix, and Jim's, I like both. My only question is what did it do for the noise. I was looking at totally enclosing the 6637 with a cold air duct. Maybe with fiber glass or some ABS plastic. I have a lot of time to work on it, I think it will be a fun project.
