can't win

I took a vaction day to work on my girlfriends car and on the way home tranny in my trucked started slipping on I75. I called a buddy to come get me with his trailer and we took it to his place where I will be able to work on it. Now mind you this tranny has been in the truck rfor less than 60 days. The yard I got it from tells me that it is still under warranty but right now they can't find another good one to replace it with. Man I need a donor with a zf5 so I can rid myself of these automatic problems. Sorry to rant like this but I figure who else will put up with kinda wineing lol.

heck if you cant find a zf5 donar, maybe you could find a t-19, that will get you away from the autos then after that you could swap a zf5 in

I have been thinking about that as well. Man I just don't have the luck with autos. But a t-19 would work for now but I do want that overdrive someday. The yard did call a minute ago and found me a tranny. Geuss I will be doing the work next weekend. I had to get her car fixed since we have to go to muncie ind. this weekend so working on the truck is out.

Ya John I now! I am sick and tired of automatic trannies. Man I need to find a cheep donor and get the sitch done. As dyoung said I would even settle for a t-19 for now. It would be better than the c6.

I checked cl and didn't see anything. Yes the lines are clear. When I swapped in this tranny I blew the lines out in case there was any crud i them and they flowed real good. I don't want to put the money into a rebuilt c6 as I would rather make it a stick. I have decided that if I can find any stick even a four speed I will be money ahead.

do you have an external cooler?
do you have a trans temp gauge? if so,what where your temps?
did you make sure the radiator/trans side cooler was flowing free?
how does the fluid color look in this trans now?
how many miles was on this trans?
did you flush/filter change when you put it in?

sorry for so many questions.
the c6 is known for being a hell of a good trans.

Ya I have the external cooler and it all flowed thru good on the last swap. I don't have a temp gauge on it so I don't have a clue there. I did do a filter and flush on this tranny along with new front seal. The fluid was fine till this morning, no it is slightly discolored and smells burnt. When it is cooled down it will move but still slips and as it gets warmed up it just doesn't move at all. I always thought of the c6 as a grat tranny but I think they all hate me. I am a stick guy at heart and I think the trannies know it.

I just wish I could find a cheap donor and swap in a manual. People around here seem to just junk stuff it don't run and the yards want an arm and a leg for the stuff. I wish I had just kept the np435 I had behind the 302 and made it work with this engine. Now there was a tranny that was indestrucable. And it had a 6.25:1 low gear. It would barley move in 1st and 4 low at an idle.
